It is with great enthusiasm that President Spectar shares that Pitt-Johnstown contracted HodgsonConsulting to extensively redesign the Pitt-Johnstown website. This marks the first major redesign of the Pitt-Johnstown website since 2004. Since then the importance of a strong web presence has only grown as a resource for communicating with prospective students, current students, alumni, visitors, and employees. The website has become the institution’s front door and Pitt-Johnstown is excited to work with HodgsonConsulting on a new design that will showcase our campus and our identity.
The website redesign project is the result of the work of a campus-wide task force that first met this past fall in response to concerns regarding the current website’s appearance, navigation, and overall functionality. The problems with the current website are largely due to the limitations of the current website software which is out-of-date. Based on the recommendation of the task force the University decided to seek a full redesign of the website including an updated content management system to support the design. Vendors from across the country had an opportunity to bid on the work and after an extensive interview process, HodgsonConsulting was selected as the best firm to fit the needs of Pitt-Johnstown.
HodgsonConsulting will completely overhaul the website giving it a professional and contemporary design that will be more visually appealing, easier for users to navigate, and easier for campus to update. New functionality on the redesigned website will include social media integration, event calendars, and e-commerce. In addition, the finished website will be compatible across platforms including desktop computers and mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.
A successful website design firm located in Kensington, MD, HodgsonConsulting has been working in the field since 2001. They have completed work for universities, businesses, and non-profit organizations and will bring great value to the University.
The redesign process will unfold over several months and will require involvement from everyone on campus. HodgsonConsulting is scheduled to visit campus as early as next week to learn more about Pitt-Johnstown and our website needs and priorities. President Spectar encourages everyone to participate in this exciting endeavor.
