I am delighted to announce that Mr. Stanley Pisarski, instructor in Electrical Engineering Technology, has been selected as this year's recipient of the President's Award for Teaching Excellence.
We are extremely fortunate to have a person of Mr. Pisarski’s caliber and dedication as a member of our Pitt-Johnstown faculty. He encompasses all of the qualities required for this most-esteemed award. The fact that he was nominated by a group of students who interact with him in the classroom and directly observe his teaching and mentoring makes him a worthy candidate for this award.
In being selected for the award, Mr. Pisarski was commended for his efforts to involve his students in real world projects. Working as an engineer has allowed him to draw from real world experiences and bring them into his classroom. Mr. Pisarski believes in educating through effective problem-solving, helping to prepare students for success in the real world. He is also deeply committed to the advancement of his field. Over the course of his career, Mr. Pisarski has been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Students, faculty, alumni, and the community have all emphasized his strong teaching ability and his commitment to student success, as well as his dedication to being an engaged and active community member.
Mr. Pisarski received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Pitt-Johnstown and earned his Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania. Mr. Pisarski began his career at Pitt-Johnstown in 1980.
