Baseball Sweeps Lock Haven, 18-7, 10-2
04/21/13... (Game 1) (Game 2) Matt McGee (Beech Creek, Pa.) belted a three-run home run and the Mountain Cats scored 11 runs over a two inning span to break open a tie game, en route to dealing Lock Haven University an 18-7 loss in Sunday's non-conference doubleheader opener at Point Stadium.  Pitt-Johnstown, 24-17 on the year, completed the sweep with a 10-2 victory in the nightcap behind Matt McMillen's (Johnstown, Pa.) four RBI.
     In game one, the Mountain Cats broke open a 7-7 game with five runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth to coast to the 18-7 win.
     Nate Pope (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI, while McGee was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and four RBI to highlight a 24-hit Pitt-Johnstown attack.  Mike Palkovitz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) collected three hits and drove in three, and Jake Warner (Dillsburg, Pa.) and Sam Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.) each added three hits.  Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.) and Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.) both had two hits and an RBI.
     John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) earned the win on the mound after allowing seven runs on seven hits in five innings.  Nate Plummer (Bellwood, Pa.) gave up two hits in two scoreless innings to close it out.
     In game two, Pitt-Johnstown scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning and never looked back in the 10-2 win.
     McMillen was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, and Morrow had two hits and drove in two.  WarnerVignero, and McGee also had two hits apiece as the Mountain Cats banged out 15 more hits.
     Kody Reighard (Salix, Pa.) improved to 3-0 after surrendering two runs on seven hits over the first six innings, before Rylan Schnably (Bedford, Pa.) tossed a scoreless seventh inning.
     With the losses, Lock Haven fell to 14-20 on the season.  
     The Mountain Cats will host a conference doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday, before closing out the 2013 regular season with a three-game WVIAC Northern Division series against Shepherd (WV) University on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Point Stadium.
