Pitt-Johnstown senior guard Nick Novak (Murrysville, Pa.), the Mountain Cats' all-time leader in assists and second-leading scorer, was named Second-Team NCAA Division II Daktronics' All-Atlantic Region when this year teams were released on Thursday.

     West Liberty (WV) University senior guard Alex Falk has been selected as the Atlantic Region Player of the Year. Falk, the WVIAC Player of the Year, leads the nation’s top-ranked team into the NCAA Tournament this weekend with a 30-1 record.

     Novak, who was tabbed First-Team All-WVIAC for the second straight year, led the Mountain Cats in scoring (21.9 ppg.), assists (161), steals (63), field goals (232-430), and free-throws (135-161).
     Nationally, he ranks 12th in scoring, 14th in assists per game,  30th in steals per game, 65th in field goal percentage, and 66th in free-throw percentage.
     Novak holds the Mountain Cat record for assists (545),  field goals-made (759), and career free-throw percentage (86.1%) and is second on the all-time scoring list (2,023 pts.).

     Falk, a native of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, is averaging 20.8 points per game for the Hilltoppers. He also adds 4.2 rebounds and his 3.4 steals per game are fifth most in the NCAA. He was a first team all-region selection last year as well.
     Falk is joined on the first team by Whis Grant (East Stroudsburg), Trevin Parks (Johnson C. Smith), Angelo Sharpless (Elizabeth City State) andByron Westmoreland (Bowie State).

     Whis Grant, the PSAC East Athlete of the Year as just a sophomore, helped his East Stroudsburg team to the NCAA Tournament after leading the Warriors with 17.3 points per game and 52 steals on the year. Parks, a second team all-region pick last year, is second in the country in scoring at 25 points per game. Sharpless averaged 20.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists for the Vikings. Westmoreland, who was MVP of the CIAA Tournament after leading Bowie State to the title and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament this week, was among the top 10 scorers in the country at 23.5 points per game to go with 6.1 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

     The second team consists of Cedric Harris (West Liberty), Luis Leao (Mercyhurst), Chad Moore (Shepherd), Nick Novak (Pitt-Johnstown), Devin Taylor (Slippery Rock), Isaac Thornton (Fairmont State) and Kelsey Williams (West Virginia Wesleyan).
