     03/16/13... (Box Score) Pitt-Johnstown banged out 26 hits, including four apiece from Mike Palkovitz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Jake Warner (Dillsburg, Pa.), in a 20-2 victory over Fairmont State (WV) University to open a three-game WVIAC series, Saturday evening at Johnstown's Point Stadium.  The Mountain Cats improved to 10-3 overall and 1-0 in conference-play.
     Warner and Palkovitz each went 4-for-7 with Warner belting a double and a two-run homer.
     Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.) and Jeff Campbell each had three hits and three RBI, while Nate Sabados (DuBois, Pa.) had three-hits and a pair of RBI, and Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.) chipped-in three hits, including a double and a solo homerun.
     Ryan Matsko (Latrobe, Pa.) and Nate Pope (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) both added two hits in the lopsided win.
     Derek Younker (Big Cove Tannery, Pa.) improved to 3-1 after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings of work.  Ryan Socol (Pittsburgh, Pa.) pitched two scoreless innings to close it out.
     With the loss, Fairmont State dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-1 in the WVIAC Northern Division.   
     The Mountain Cats finish the Fairmont State series with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Point Stadium, before traveling to Ohio Valley (WV) University for a WVIAC doubleheader on Wednesday, and to West Liberty (WV) University for a three-game conference series next weekend.
