Mountain Cats Defeat Mercy to End Spring Trip
     03/14/13... (Box Score) Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.) went 5-for-5 and Pitt-Johnstown pitchers didn't allow a hit until the seventh in a 6-1 victory over Mercy (NY) College on Thursday to close out the 2013 Spring Trip in Fort Pierce, Fla.  The Mountain Cats improved to 9-3.
     Mercy was held hitless until the seventh inning, before stringing three hits together in the ninth to break the shutout.
     Vignero had five hits, including a double and two RBI, while Jeff Campbell (Brackenridge, Pa.) added three hits.  Jake Warner (Dillsburg, Pa.) was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Ryan Matsko (Latrobe, Pa.) and Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.) chipped-in two hits and two RBI apiece.  Brett Marabito (Seward, Pa.) also had two hits.
     Rylan Schnably (Bedford, Pa.) pitched three hitless innings and fanned three in relief of John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) to improve to 2-0.  Fees threw the first three innings and didn't allow a hit.  Fees also struck out four. 
     The Mountain Cats will play a three-game WVIAC series against Fairmont State (WV) University on Saturday and Sunday at Johnstown's Point Stadium, before traveling to Ohio Valley (WV) University for a WVIAC doubleheader on Wednesday.
