Southern Conn. State Ends Cats' Win Streak at Seven
     03/12/13... (Box Score) Southern Connecticut State University jumped on Mountain Cat starter Andrew Keirn (Dillsburg, Pa.) for seven runs in five innings on its way to ending Pitt-Johnstown's winning steak at seven games with an 8-1 victory, Tuesday in Fort Pierce, Fla. The Mountain Cats, ranked seventh in this week's NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll, slipped to 8-2.
     Nate Sabados (DuBois, Pa.) produced Pitt-Johnstown's lone run with an RBI double, while Sam Barbera (Harrisburg, Pa.), Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.), Matt McMillen (Johnstown, Pa.), Mike Palkovitz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), and Nate Pope (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) accounted for the other five Mountain Cat base hits.
     Keirn took the loss and dropped to 0-1 after surrendering seven earned runs on 11 hits in five innings.  Keirn also struck out three and walked one. 
     The Mountain Cats close out their Spring Trip in Fort Pierce, Fla. with single games against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, and Mercy (NY) College on Thursday.
