Men's Golf Finishes 13th at WVIAC Northern Regional
04/07/08...Chad Kochis finished in a tie for 26th to lead the Pitt Johnstown men's golf team to a 13th place finish in the 15-team field event at Monday's 2008 WVIAC Northern Regional at Speidel Golf Club's Jones Course in Wheeling, WV. Kochis shot a two-day total of 162 to end the tournament 20 over par.
Kochis, who tied Taylor Fitzpatrick (Ohio Valley) and Eric Morris (Charleston) for 26th, shot an 86 to open the tournament on Sunday, before rebounding with a 76 on Monday. Along with Kochis, R.J. Danko finished 56th with a 177 (+34). Jason Vercelotti (+36, 178) was 57th and Jake Machnik (+39, 181) was 62nd.
West Liberty State's (WV) Christopher Palmer (+2, 144) and Matt Hicks (+4, 146) finished first and second to lead the Hilltoppers to the team championship with a combined 601. Ohio Valley was second (613), while Charleston and Fairmont State tied for third at 625. Pitt Johnstown ended the tournament in 13th place at 338.
Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Concord Invitational
03/21/08...The Mountain Cat men's golf team opened the 2008 season with a ninth place finish at the Concord (WV) University Invitational at Pipestem Golf Club in Pipestem, WV on Friday. Pitt Johnstown wrapped up the two-day event at a combined 697 strokes. Chad Kochis' ended the tournament in 34th place with a 167 (+23) to lead the Mountain Cats... (Complete Results) Kochis shot an 83 on Thursday and an 84 on Friday, while R.J. Danko finished 39th with a 172 (+28). Jason Vercelotti (+31, 175) was 43rd and Trevor Schrock (+42, 186) and Cameron Fusko (#44, 188) ended in 49th and 50th place, respectively.
The University of Charleston's (WV) Alex Carrigan posted a +4 (148) to claim the individual title, while leading the Golden Eagles to the team championship with a combined total of 611 (+35). California University (PA) was second (+43), followed by Concord (+47), Bluefield (VA) College (+77) and Bluefield State (WV) College (+83).
