Golf Signs Erie Cathedral Prep Standout Kevin McDonald
     The Pitt-Johnstown men’s golf team has signed Kevin McDonald (Erie, Pa.) to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Mountain Cats beginning in the fall of 2009.
     McDonald helped lead Erie Cathedral Prep High School to the 2008 the PIAA Golf Championship.  In addition, he played as an amateur on the North Coast Junior Tour.
     McDonald will join a Pitt-Johnstown program that returns 10 golfers from the 2008-09 squad.  The Mountain Cats will look to make strides in the WVIAC next season.

Vercelotti Ties For Sixth to Lead Men's Golf at Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic
     04/09/09...Jason Vercelotti (Oakmont, Pa.) fired a 77 (+6) to place in a tie for sixth place and lead the Mountain Cat golf team to a 17th-place finish at Thursday's Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic at the Hershey Country Club East Course.  Pitt-Johnstown finished with a combined score of 353.
     Vercelotti's 77 tied him with six other golfers for sixth place, just five strokes off of Mitch Mercer's (Susquehanna) tournament-winning 72.  Jacob Bolby (Ligonier, Pa.) and B.J. Torau (Ligonier, Pa.) tied for 74th at +17, while R.J. Danko (Elizabeth, Pa.) (+19) and Joe Robl (Verona, Pa.) (+26) finished 85th and 94th, respectively.
     York won the team championship with a +28 (312).  Dickinson (+30, 314) was second and , Susquehanna (+31, 315) was third.  Cabrini, Elizabethtown and Moravian all tied for fourth at +32 (316) in the 19-team field.

Men's Golf Places 13th at WVIAC Northern Regional
     04/06/09...B.J. Torau (Ligonier, Pa.) finished in a tie for 43rd with a two-day total of 170 to lead the Mountain Cat golf team to a 13th-place finish at Sunday and Monday's 2009 WVIAC Northern Regional Tournament at Speidel Golf Club in Wheeling WV.
     Torau shot an 87 on Sunday, before improving by four strokes on Monday.  Jason Vercelotti (Oakmont, Pa.) tie for 60th (179), while Jacob Bolby (Ligonier, Pa.) tied for 64th with a 182.  In addition, Ryan Leitzel (York, Pa.)  placed 66th (185), and Jeff Rolla (Sidman, Pa.) rounded out the Mountain Cat golfers in 71st-place with a 205.
     Ohio Valley (WV) won the team title with a 602.  West Liberty State (WV) (619), Concord (WV) (621), Charleston (WV) (634) and West Virginia Wesleyan (634) rounded out the top teams.  The Mountain Cats finished 13th in the 15-team field with a 715.
