Lady Cats Pound Ohio Valley, 88-72

poured in a game-high 25 points to help the Lady Cats build a 20-point second half lead on their way to dealing Ohio Valley (WV) University an 88-72 WVIAC loss, Monday evening in the Sports Center. The Lady Cats have won four of their last five games and improved to 7-6 overall and 5-5 in the WVIAC.
After falling behind 1-0 on Kayla Parsley's free-throw, the Lady Cats got a 3-pointer from
Fratz
on their next trip down the floor to gain a lead they would never give up.
Nicole Carman's (Cleveland, OH)
lay-up with just under 15 minutes left in the first half put Pitt-Johnstown up 14-4, before the Fighting Scots answered with a quick 9-2 run to pull to within three at 16-13 on two Janelle Silver free-throws.
However, the the Lady Cats outscored Ohio Valley 29-17 the rest of the half to build a 15-point advantage.
Pitt-Johnstown extended its lead to 18 on two occasions, with the last coming on
Leah Hansen's (Waterford, Pa.)
free-throws with 2:51 left, before
Hansen's
driving lay-up with seven seconds to go put the Lady Cats in front 45-30 at the break.
Shelby Way opened the second half with a 3-pointer for the Fighting Scots to get the deficit down to 12, but that was as close as the Lady Cats would let them get.

Carman
at 17:06 pushed the lead to 55-35, but Parsley scored eight points, and Jasmine Gibson made a short jumper at 11:32 to close a 19-6 Ohio Valley run that cut it to 61-54.
Kelsey Sleighter (Uniontown, Pa.)
answered for the Lady Cats with a 3-pointer midway through the half to get back out to an 11-point lead, Pitt-Johnstown never let Ohio Valley any closer than seven.
Fratz
led all scorers and three Lady Cats who scored in double figures with 25 points, six rebounds and nine assists.
Jasmine Harper (Cleveland Heights, OH)
had 13 points and 11 rebounds, while
Rachel Johnson (Palmyra, Pa.)
added 11 points and seven rebounds to a Pitt-Johnstown attack that saw eight players score six or more points.
Olivia Rizzo (Irwin, Pa.)
and
Sleighter
each scored eight points, and
Inaya Stephenson (Pittsburgh, Pa.)
chipped-in eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
Pitt-Johnstown shot a solid 48.5% (32-66) from the floor, including 10-24 from 3-point range. The Lady Cats were also 14-21 from the charity stripe. Ohio Valley ended the night shooting 48.4% (30-62) from the field, but just 6-17 from behind the 3-point line. The Fighting Scots hit 6-9 from the free-throw line.
Parsley had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Way collected 18 points for Ohio Valley, which dropped to 0-13 overall and 0-9 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats will host a conference doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Davis & Elikns (WV) College on Thursday, before traveling to Seton Hill University on Saturday for another WVIAC game. The Lady Cats will tip-off Thursday's doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
