Lady Cats Fall at Home to Lock Haven
     12/30/12... (Box Score) Nicole Carman (Cleveland, OH) and Jasmine Harper (Cleveland, OH) each scored 19 points, but Lock Haven University outscored the Lady Cats 4-0 in the final minute to hold on for an 80-75 non-conference victory over the Lady Cats, Sunday afternoon in the Sports Center.  Pitt-Johnstown slipped to 3-5.   
     Emily Daugherty's driving lay-up seven minutes into the game gave Lock Haven an early 13-8 advantage.
     The Lady Cats followed with a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to go ahead 17-15 on five of Carman's 17 first half points and a Harper bucket at 10:55.
     It stayed close the rest of the half.  Kelsey Ryan put the Lady Eagles back in front by three at the six minute-mark, but Pitt-Johnstown got back-to-back 3-pointers from Kelsey Sleighter (Uniontown, Pa.), and Carman's to take a 39-35 lead with 30 seconds left.
     Lock Haven answered with a J.J. Hilliard jumper at the buzzer to make it 39-37 at the break.
     Another Carman basket four minutes into the second half put the Lady Cats up 47-41.  The Lady Eagles kept it close and battled back to regain the lead 65-64 on a pair of Adrianna Berry free-throws with 7:47 remaining.
     Pitt-Johnstown was able to tie it 72 at the 3-minute mark, but Lock Haven never surrendered the lead.
      The Lady Cats cut it to 76-75 with :57 to play, but consecutive turnovers on their next two possessions kept Pitt-Johnstown winless in the Sports Center this season.
     Carman finished with a double-double of 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Harper added 19 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor and 3-5 from the free-throw line.  Kaitlynn Fratz (Accident, MD) had 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists.  Sleighter scored eight points off the bench, and Rachel Johnson (Palmyra, Pa.) grabbed seven rebounds in the loss.
     Pitt-Johnstown shot 42.2% (27-64) from the field, 8-28 from 3-point range, and 13-19 from the free-throw line.  The Lady Eagles ended the day shooting 47.6% (30-63) from the floor, 2-8 from behind the 3-point range, and 18-22 from the charity stripe.
      Daugherty led all scorers and three Lock Haven players in double-figures with 23 points and seven rebounds.  Ryan chipped-in 15 points, and Sami Lane had 10 points for the Lady Eagles, who improved to 3-6.
     The Lady Cats will host a WVIAC doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Shepherd (WV) University on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, before beginning a stretch of three straight conference games.
