Assistant Professor of Nursing

The University of Pittsburgh—Johnstown (Pitt-Johnstown) invites applications for a tenure-stream, full-time position in Nursing at the Assistant Professor level in the Division of Nursing and Health Sciences. Pitt-Johnstown is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate campus of the University of Pittsburgh system, located 77 miles east of Pittsburgh on a beautiful 650-acre site in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. The college community includes about 3,000 undergraduate students and 150 full-time faculty distributed through six academic divisions. These divisions include Education, Engineering Technology, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Social Sciences. Each division offers four-year undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree programs.

 Responsibilities include a 12-hour teaching load per term including didactic and clinical courses in maternal-child nursing. In addition, this faculty member will assist with on-campus nursing laboratory instruction and with the “Transitions into Professional Practice” course in which students synthesize knowledge about professional nursing roles and accountability, leadership, and health care policy. Other teaching duties may involve the candidate’s related areas of expertise and interest. Active engagement in nursing scholarship and participation in service to the university and campus community are also expectations of this position.

Qualifications include:
• Doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline required, ABD status considered with completion by time of hiring; master’s degree in nursing with expertise in clinical specialty area required
• Pennsylvania state RN license
• Previous baccalaureate level teaching experience in nursing
