Track Places Eighth at Wheeling Jesuit Invitational
03/29/08...Darianna Terry (Chantilly, VA) earned a second place finish in the Long Jump and Jill Maurer (Johnstown, Pa.) placed second in the Javelin to lead the Pitt Johnstown women's track and field team to an eighth place finish at the 2008 Wheeling Jesuit University Bill Van Horne Invitational on Saturday.
Terry placed second in the in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.65m, while Maurer's throw of 29.90m in the Javelin qwas also good enough for second place.
Malone won the team competition with 210 points. Wheeling Jesuit was second (174 pts.), followed Penn State-Behrend (86 pts.), Grove City (68.5 pts.) and Roberts Wesleyan (55 pts.). Bethany (53.5 pts.), Franciscan (29 pts.), PITT JOHNSTOWN (22 PTS.), West Liberty State (13 pts.) and West Virginia Wesleyan (12 pts.) rounded out the top-10.
Women's Track & Field Finishes Second at WV Wesleyan Snowbird Invitational
03/19/08...Darianna Terry earned a pair of first place finishes and one second place finish to lead the Pitt Johnstown women's track team to a second place overall finish at the 2008 West Virginia Wesleyan College Snowbird Invitational on Wednesday.
Terry earned first place finishes in the 100 Meter Dash (13.64) and Triple Jump (10.79m) and placed second in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.69 meters. Jill Maurer and Lindsay Plowman placed third and fourth respectively in the 400 Meter Dash, while the 4x100 Meter Relay Team finished second behind West Virginia Wesleyan with a time of 54.13.
In the field events, Krista Britcher placed second in the the Shot Put (10.79m) and third in the Javelin Throw (96'10"), while Maurer finished third in tthe Javelin (81'01")
West Virginia Wesleyan won the team title with 231 points, followed by Pitt Johnstown (96 pts.), Alderson Broaddus (42 pts.), Concord (20 points) and West Virginia State (20 points).
Pitt Johnstown travels to the Concord (WV) University Invitational on Friday and the Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University Invitational on Saturday.
