     11/13/09...Five Pitt-Johnstown men’s soccer players have been named to 2009 All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) Teams, including senior defender Joe Cronan (Indiana, Pa.) and freshman forward Derik Swope (Harleysville, Pa.), who were selected to the Second-Team...      Cronan, a four-year starter for Head Coach Eric Kinsey, started all 19 matches this season finished with two assists for two points.
     Swope joined the Mountain Cats’ starting line-up as a true freshman and led Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (19 points) and goals (8).
     In addition to Cronan and Swope, senior goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) (5-12-1, 1.48 goals-against-average), junior defender Brian Taslov (Robinson, Pa.) (1 assist, 1 point) and freshman midfielder Marc Bucci (Pittsburgh, Pa.) (4 assists, 4 points) were all named Honorable Mention All-WVIAC.
     WVIAC regular season and tournament champion University of Charleston (WV) makes a complete sweep of the top 2009 league men's soccer awards.  Sophomore forward Dion Peters is the WVIAC Player of the Year, while teammate Rob Vincent is the WVIAC Freshman of the Year.  Charleston’s second-year head coach Chad Duernberger was honored by his peers as the WVIAC Coach of the Year.
     The Mountain Cats earned a spot in the WVIAC Tournament for the third consecutive year and finished the 2007 season with a 6-12-1 overall record and a 4-5-1 conference record.

Men's Soccer Falls 1-0 at WJU in Quarterfinals of WVIAC Tournament
     11/03/09... (Box Score)  Billy Wilson's goal 15 minutes into the match proved to be the game-winner, as No.-3 seeded Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University dealt the No.-6 seeded Mountain Cat men's soccer team a 1-0 loss in Tuesday's Quarterfinals of the 2009 WVIAC Tournament.  Pitt-Johnstown's season came to an end with a 6-12-1 overall record.  
     Wilson scored the match's lone goal in the 15th minute when he turned Tony Trabert's long pass into a breakaway and beat Mountain Cat goal keeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) into the far right corner of the net.
     Neff faced 14 Cardinals' shots and made six saves, but surrendered one goal and suffered the loss.  Wheeling Jesuit goalkeeper Shane Young saw six Pitt-Johnstown shots and made two saves to earn the shutout.
     With the victory, Wheeling Jesuit improved to 11-6-3 and advances to take on No.2-seeded Davis & Elkins (WV) College in the WVIAC Tournament Semifinals on Thursday.


Mountain Cats Fall in Double Overtime at Chestnut Hill
     10/26/09... (Box Score)  Mike Gough's goal two minutes into the second overtime led Chestnut Hill College to a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Mountain Cat soccer team, Monday afternoon in Philadelphia.  Pitt-Johnstown wrapped-up the 2009 regular season with a 6-11-1 overall record.
     Gough found the back of the net behind Mountain Cat goalkeeper Craig Neff (Elizabethtown, Pa.) off of Gavin Reid's assist in the 102nd minute to give Chestnut Hill the 1-0 victory.
     Neff faced 28 shots and made 12 saves, but suffered the loss and dropped to 5-11-1.  Mike Goldstein earned the win for Chestnut Hill after seeing 13 Pitt-Johnstown shots and making three saves.
     With the win, Chestnut Hill improved to 3-11-2 on the year.
