Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win at W.Va. State
Kohler Sets School Record for Career Digs

(Box Score) Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) had a match-high 15 kills, and Larissa Swank (Boswell, Pa.) added nine kills and six blocks to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to its second straight conference win in as many days with a 3-1 victory at West Virginia State University on Saturday. In the process, Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) collected 21 digs to break the Lady Cat All-Time Career Record. Pitt-Johnstown improved to 11-6 overall and evened its record in the WVIAC at 4-4.
The Lady Cats defeated West Virginia State 25-22, 25-27, 25-9, and 25-17.
With her 21 digs, Kohler became Pitt-Johnstown all-time leader in career digs with 1,344.
Along with her 15 kills, Shanabrook had five digs and a block, while Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) had nine kills and five blocks. The Lady Cats also got nine kills, seven digs and four blocks from Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.), and seven kills and four blocks from Ashley DiRado (Greensburg, Pa.).
Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) finished with 24 set assists and six digs, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped in three kills and 20 assists.
With the loss, West Virginia State dropped to 5-12 overall and 4-2 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats continue a stretch of six straight road matches at Shepherd (WV) University on Wednesday and at Ohio VAlley (WV) University on Saturday. Pitt-Johnstown will play its next home match on October 23 when Point Park University visits the Sports Center for a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
