Volleyball Defeats Concord for First WVIAC Win
     09/28/12... (Box Score) Kelsey Shanabrook (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) had a game-high 17 kills to lead three Lady Cats who finished with 10 or more kills in Pitt-Johnstown's 3-1 Homecoming victory over Concord (WV) University, Friday night in the Sports Center.  The Lady Cats improved 7-4 and picked-up their first win in the WVIAC to move to 1-3.
     Pitt-Johnstown won the opening set 26-24, before dropping set two, 25-23.  However, the Lady Cats bounced back with 25-15 and 25-19 victories to close out the match.
     Along with Shanabrook, Beth Kendera (Johnstown, Pa.) finished with 13 kills, two block solos, and five block assists, while Karen Schmidt (Boswell, Pa.) rounded out the Lady Cats who had double-digit kills with 10.
     Pitt-Johnstown also got six kills from Danielle Fleeger (Clarion, Pa.) and Larissa Swank (Boswell, Pa.) tallied six kills and two block assists.
     Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) led the way with 29 set assists, and Nikki Oakes (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 18 assists.
     Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) ended with 19 digs, and Katie Svetahor (Latrobe, Pa.), Schmidt, and Shanabrook all had seven digs in the victory.
     With the loss, Concord fell to 6-11 overall and 1-2 in the WVIAC. 
     The Lady Cats host a Homecoming Weekend WVIAC match against Bluefield State (WV) College on Saturday at 1 p.m., before beginning a stretch of six straight road matches at the Susquehanna University Crusader Classic on October 6.
