The Office of Student Life recognizes the importance of involving our commuter students.
Many of our students live within the commuting distance of campus and do not find it necessary to take advantage of on/ off-campus housing opportunities. Although you may spend less time on campus than if you lived in one of the residence halls, we hope you will take advantage of some of what we have to offer in terms of co-curricular activities and social or recreational events. We are committed to working with you; both individually and as a group, to enrich your college experience. These are some of the services that we hope will help provide that enrichment.
Pitt-Johnstown currently offers over 90 Student Organizations in which you can be involved. Many organizations highlight their club during the annual Activities Fair, scheduled during early September. Habitat for Humanity, Women in Engineering, Black Action Society and Ski Club are several examples of what we offer. Don't see your interest on our web site? You can start a club by having a minimum of ten people.
Need to feel connected? Through Campus Housing, commuter rooms are available through the commuter in residence program. The Office of Student Life also publishes "The Involved Commuter" newsletter each semester and you'll receive it in your campus post office box (another perk of being a commuter at Pitt-Johnstown).
