Three UPJ Students to Study Abroad through the 2005 Vira I. Heinz Travel Study Awards

Students Carissa J. Cyran, Ashley L. Davis, and Renee M. Milkie have been named the 2005 Vira I. Heinz Travel Study Award recipients.



Ms. Cyran
, Lilly, PA, a junior political science major and in-coming President, Student Senate, will use the award to study Viennese art, architecture and opera music in Vienna, Austria during this summer under the auspices of Hope College and the Austro-American Institute of Education.


Selected for the International Studies, Organizations and Social Justice Program in Nyon, Switzerland is Ms. Davis, Gibsonia, PA, a senior psychology major, studying under the auspices of SIT/Switzerland.


Ms. Milkie
, Johnstown, PA, a junior political science major, will study French language in Paris, France under the auspices of New York University.

The Heinz Endowments support efforts to make southwestern PA a premier place to live and work, a center for learning and educational excellence, and a home to diversity and inclusion.  The Heinz Foundation works within Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the nation to develop solutions to challenges that are national and even international in scope.  The Heinz Endowments awarded over $53 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in 2004.
