McKillop Named to Amateur Wrestling News' All-Rookie Team - 05/03/12

     05/03/12...Pitt-Johnstown freshman All-American Travis McKillop (Lower Burrell, Pa.) was one of six 174-lb. collegiate wrestlers who earned a spot on the 2011-12 Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Wrestling Team.  The Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team combines all divisions and names six wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes.
     McKillop, a former Pennsylvania State Champion from Burrell High School, placed third at the NCAA Division II Super Region Tournament, before battling back from an early round loss at the Division II National Tournament to place seventh.
     McKillop, who earned the starting spot at 174 lbs. on Head Coach Pat Pecora's team as a true freshman, posted a 22-7 overall record and a 6-4 mark in dual meets.  Six of his 22 victories came by way of fall.
     McKillop also won the title at the season-opening Washington & Jefferson Collegiate Open, and finished second at the Wilkes Open on December 28.
     Ohio State University led all schools with six wrestlers on All-Rookie Teams, while the University of Minnesota and Edinboro University had five and four, respectively.
