04/21/12... (Game 1) (Game 2) Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College ran out to early leads in both ends of Saturday's West Virginia Conference doubleheader in Philippi, W.Va. and went on to sweep the Mountain Cats 8-6 and 10-0.  Nate Sabados (DuBois, Pa.) hit a three-run home run in the opener for Pitt-Johnstown, now 20-23 overall and 13-15 in the WVIAC Northern Division.
In game one, Alderson-Broaddus built an 8-3 lead after four innings and went on to defeat the Mountain Cats, 8-6.
Mike Palkovitz' (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) sacrifice fly in the top of the first plated Jake Warner (Pittsburgh, Pa.) to give the Mountain Cats a quick 1-0 lead.
Alderson-Broaddus scored a run in their half of the first and added another run in the second, but Pitt-Johnstown quickly regained the lead in the top of the third with bases loaded walks to Nathan Pope (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) and Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.).
The Battlers answered with three runs in the third on RBI hits by Mitch Roy and Bobby McLaughlin, and a sacrifice fly from Jeff Conley.
Three more runs in the Alderson-Broaddus fourth inning extended it to 8-3, before Sabados belted a three-run home run to cut the Pitt-Johnstown deficit to 8-6 in the fifth.
Sabados hit a three-run homer, and Warner had two hits and scored a pair of runs to lead Pitt-Johnstown.  Palkovitz doubled and drove in one, while Pope and Ebersole each had an RBI.
John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) took the loss and fell to 3-4 after allowing eight runs (6 earned) on eight hits in four innings.  Fees also struck out four and walked three.  Heath Singer (Newviile, Pa.) pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Fees.
In game two, Alderson-Broaddus jumped on Mountain Cat starter Derek Younker (Big Cove Tannery, Pa.) for eight runs on eight hits in the first two innings on its way to compleing the sweep with a 10-0 victory.
Conley's three-run homer in the first innings off of Younker gave the Battlers an early 3-0 lead, before Alderson-Broaddus added five more in the second to take an 8-0 lead.
With the sweep, the Battlers improved to 21-21 overall and 17-9 in the WVIAC North.
The Mountain Cats wrap-up the three-game WVIAC serires at Alderson-Broaddus with a doubleheader on Sunday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Day with a doubleheader against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Point Stadium.
