Mountain Cat Baseball Drops Two at Concord

Concord (WV) University built a 4-0 lead after three innings and shut out the Mountain Cats 4-0 to open Wednesday's West Virginia Conference doubleheader in Beckley, W.Va. Concord completed the sweep with a 4-3 win in the nightcap.
Drew Westover (Flinton, Pa.)
hit a solo homer run, and
Mike Palkovitz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.)
added three hits in game two for Pitt-Johnstown, now 20-21 overall and 13-13 in the WVIAC Northern Division.
In game one, Concord scored two runs in both the first and third innings and went on to defeat the Mountain Cats, 4-0.
Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.)
went 2-for-3 for Pitt-Johnstown.
Rylan Schnably (Bedford, Pa.)
allowed four earned runs on eight hits in six innings and suffered the loss to slip to 4-2.
In game two, Concord touchedup Pitt-Johnstown starter Paul Tunink (Indiana, Pa.) four four runs in the first inniing and made them hold in in the 4-3 victory.
The Mountain Cats made it 4-1 in the fifth on
Westover's
homer. The Mountain Cats adding two more runs in the seventh on a
Palkovitz
RBI triple, and a
Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.)
run producing single, but that was as close as it would get.
Palkovitz
was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while
Westover
had two hits, including the solo homerun.
Tunink
slipped to 2-2 after giving up four runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
With the sweep, Concord improved to 17-25 overall and 13-14 in the WVIAC Southern Division.
The Mountain Cats travel to Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College for a three-game WVIAC Northern Division series on Saturday and Sunday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Day with a doubleheader against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Thursday, April 26 at 5 p.m. at the Point Stadium.
