Basketball Teams Ranked in Final 2011-12 NCAA Statistics

     03/24/12...The Pitt-Johnstown men's and women's basketball teams were ranked among the NCAA Division II leaders when the final 2011-12 statistics were released on March 24.  Senior center Patrick Grubbs Turtle Creek, Pa.) was ninth in field goal percentage, and j
unior guard Jordan Miller (Vinco, Pa.) was ninth in 3-point field goals per game for the Mountain Cats, who led the country in 3-point field goal percentage and personal fouls per game, while freshman guard Kaitlynn Fratz (Accident, MD) ranked 43rd in scoring for the Lady Cats.  (NCAA Men's Stats) (NCAA Women's Stats)
     Miller was ninth in 3-point field goals per game (3.17) and 13th in 3-point field goal percentage (44.2%), and Grubbs was ninth in field goal percentage (61.9%) and 39th in rebounds per game (8.7 rpg.).  Junior guard Nick Novak (Murrysville, Pa.) ranked 17th in field goal percentage (58.5%), 30th in scoring (19.5 ppg.), and 42nd in free-throw percentage (85.8%).
     As a team, Head Coach Bob Rukavina's Mountain Cats ranked in the top-two in three statistical categories, including first in both 3-point field goal percentage (43.3%) and personal fouls per game (12.9) and second in field goal percentage (53.5%).  The Mountain Cats were also 28th in assists per game (15.7), 35th in scoring offense (78.4 ppg.), 44th in rebound margin (4.0 rpg.), and 73rd in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.02).
     In the women's basketball statistics, Fratz, the WVIAC Freshman of the Year, ranked 43rd in points per game (17.2), and senior guard Sara Trimarco (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) was 93rd in assists per game (3.8).
     As a team, Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cats finished the year sixth in 3-point field goals per game (8.1), 19th in personal fouls per game (14.0), 40th in free-throw percentage (73.9%), 50th in 3-point field goal percentage (34.2%), and 67th scoring offense (69.5 ppg.).
