Mountain Cats Suffer 9-7 Loss to West Liberty

West Liberty (WV) University built an 8-3 lead in the fourth inning and went on to salvage game three of the three-game WVIAC Northern Division series with a 9-7 victory over the Mountain Cats, Sunday afternoon at the Point Stadium.
Kyle Morrow (McVeytown, Pa.)
belted a solo homerun, and
Zach Vignero (Johnstown, Pa.)
drove in three to lead Pitt-Johnstown, now 17-12 overall and 10-4 in conference-play.
West Liberty loaded the bases with two outs in the first and took advantage of an error by Mountain Cat third baseman

Pitt-Johnstown tied it in the second on
Vignero's
bases-clearing two-out three-run double down the left field line.
Two more unearned runs in the third inning and run-producing hits by Taylor Snare and Colin Miller, followed by a bases loaded walk by Mountain Cat reliever

to Michael Bolla in the fourth put the Hilltoppers up 8-3.
The Mountain Cats got one back in the sixth.

doubled to lead off the inning and came around to score on

single to right field.

The Hilltoppers added an insureance run on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth, before
Morrow
homered for the Mountain Cats in the bottom of the frame to set the final at 9-7.
Morrow
was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, while
Vignero
doubled and drove in three for the Mountain Cats.

Chamberlain
fell to 0-4 after allowing eight runs, but just three earned, on seven hits in 3.2 innings.
Reighard
tossed the final 5.1 innings and allowed a run on five hits.
Snare led the West Liberty 12-hit attack with four hits, an RBI and three runs scored.
Brandon Polanski picked-up the win on the mound for the Hilltopers to even his record at 1-1. Polanski surrendered six runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings of work. Dillon Mangino, in his third appearance of the series, got the final two outs to secure his first save.
West Liberty improved to 5-15 overall and 3-8 in the WVIAC Northern Division.
The Mountain Cats travel to Glenville State (WV) College for a conference doubleheader on Tuesday and to Seton Hill University for a three-game WVIAC series on Friday and Saturday, before hosting the University of Charleston (WV) for a pair of games on Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the Point Stadium.
