     03/25/12... (Game 1) (Game 2) Jeff Campbell (Brackenridge, Pa.) homered to tie it, and Zach Vignero's (Johnstown, Pa.) double to the gap in right center field in the bottom of the ninth scored Matt McMillen (Johnstown, Pa. ) from first to give the Mountain Cats a 3-2 victory over Fairmont State (WV) University in Sunday's first game of a WVIAC doubleheader at the Point Stadium.  The Falcons earned the split with a 4-1 win in game two.  Pitt-Johnstown is now 13-11 overall and 6-3 in the WVIAC Northern Division.
     The Mountain Cats took an early 1-0 lead.  Jake Warner (Dillsburg, Pa.) singled up the middle to lead off the bottom of the first and came around to score on Kyle Morrow's (McVeytown, Pa.) double to the gap in left.
     Fairmont State tied it in the third when Jeremy Walter scored from third on Trevor Funk's infield single.
     The scored stayed tied at one until the ninth inning.  Nick Hallis led off with a single through the left side for the Falcons and eventually scored on Brian Coleman's base hit to put Fairmont State up 2-1.
     However, Campbell led off the Mountain Cats' half of the ninth with homer to left center to knot it at two.  McMillen then singled up the middle, and Vignero followed with the RBI double to give the Mountain Cats the 3-2 win.
      Campbell went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, while Vignero and Morrow each had a hit and an RBI for Pitt-Johnstown.
     Rylan Schnably (Bedford, Pa.) pitched the final two innings in relief of starter John Fees (Carrolltown, Pa.) to get the win and improve to 3-0.  Schnably allowed one run on two hits.  Fees tossed the first seven innings and allowed one run on just three infield base hits.  Fees also struck out five in the no decision.
     In the nightcap,
     Fairmont State took a 2-0 lead in the second after Hallis scored from third on an Elliott Chamberlain (Six Mile Run, Pa.) wild pitch and a bases loaded two out walk to Trevor Funk chased home Drew Funk.
     An error by Funk in the Mountain Cats' second allowed Drew Ebersole (Martinsburg, Pa.) to score and cut the Pitt-Johnstown deficit to 2-1.
     The Falcons added an unearned runs in the fifth and seventh innings to set the final at 4-1.
     Ebersole doubled, while Vignero, Warner, and Morrow accounted for the other three Pitt-Johnstown hits.
     Chamberlain took the loss and fell to 0-3 after giving up two runs on three hits in four innings.  Derek Younker (Big Cove Tannery, Pa.) worked the final three innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits.
     With the split, Fairmont State is 8-12 overall and 5-7 in the WVIAC North.
     The Mountain Cats host a a conference doubleheader against Ohio Valley (WV) University on Wednesday and a three-game WVIAC series against West Liberty (WV) University on Saturday and Sunday.  All games are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at the Point Stadium.
