Nick Novak Named First-Team All-WVIAC;
Patrick Grubbs Garners Second-Team Honors

University of Charleston (WV) senior guard PJ Reyes was named the WVIAC’s Player of the Year, and West Liberty (WV) University guard C.J. Hester picked up Freshman of the Year honors. West Liberty head coach Jim Crutchfield earned his third consecutive Coach of the Year accolade and fourth overall.
Novak, a Second-Team All-WVIAC choice a year ago, leads Pitt-Johnstown in scoring (19.4 ppg.) and assists (102) and is second in field goal percentage (58.3%) and steals. Nationally, he ranks 23rd in field goal percentage, 34th in scoring, and 45th in free-throw percentage. Novak's 1,367 points are ninth on the Pitt-Johnstown All-Time Scoring List, while his 372 career assists are seventh on the assists list.
Grubbs, a preseason honorable mention selection and a 2010-11 First-Team All-WVIAC choice, is Pitt-Johnstown's All-Time leading rebounder with 981. He also stands in third-place on the All-Time Scoring List with 1,732 points. Grubbs, who has collected 41 double-doubles, leads the Mountain Cats in rebounding (8.8 rpg.) and field goal percentage (61.3%). In the national statistics, he is 10th in field goal percentage and 45th in rebounding.
Reyes, the WVIAC's Player of the Year, propelled Charleston to a 23-5 overall record on the season, including an 18-4 mark in conference-play. He guided the squad to a No. 2 seed in the WVIAC Tournament and has Charleston as the No.3 team in the Atlantic Region heading into postseason play. Reyes is fifth in the conference in scoring at 20.7 ppg. and 16th in rebounding at 6.2 rpg.
Hester, the Freshman of the Year, ranked third on the Hilltoppers’ squad and 28th in the
WVIAC with 14.6 points a game. He led West Liberty with 8.8 rebounds per contest, tying him for third in the league.
Crutchfield earned his fourth Coach of the Year honor after guiding West Liberty to its third straight league title and a 26-2 overall mark. The Hilltoppers were 21-1 in WVIAC play. For the second consecutive season, Crutchfield guided the Hilltoppers to the top spot in the NABC Coaches Poll. Now in his eighth season, he has led the Hilltoppers to at least 20 wins every year.
