02/11/12... (Box Score) Sara Trimarco (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) poured in a game-high 21 points, and Kaitlynn Fratz (Accident, MD) added 18 points as the Lady Cats race out to a 14-point first half advantage in a 64-55 WVIAC win at Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College on Saturday.  Pitt-Johnstown has won four in a row and seven of its last eight games to improve to 12-10 overall and 10-8 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats ran out to a 9-2 lead four minutes into the game on a bucket by Nicole Carman (Cleveland, OH).
Natalie Smith hit a 3-pointer for Alderson-Broaddus to cut it to 9-6, but Fratz answered with five points in an 11-0 Pitt-Johnstown run over the next five minutes to increase the lead to 20-6 with 10:47 left in the half.
The Battlers pulled to within nine 3:30 later, before Trimarco quickly extended the lead back to 14 with a 3-pointer at the six-minute mark.
Alderson-Broaddus followed with a 14-5 run of its own to close out the half, including a 3-pointer by Brittini Shriver with 12 seconds to go, to cut the deficit to 34-29.
Back-to-back baskets by Zipporah Tidwell three minutes into the second half extended the Battler run to 18-8 and cut it to 34-33.
However, 10 straight points from the Lady Cats rebuilt the lead to 44-33 on a lay-up and free-throw by Rachel Johnson (Palymra, Pa.) with just under 12 minutes to play.
After two free-throws by Fratz made it a 13-point game midway through the half, an Erica Brooks' 3-pointer got Alderson-Broaddus to within four at 51-47 with 6:52 on the clock.
Pitt-Johnstown then got a conventional 3-point play from Inaya Stephenson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) on the next trip down the floor, and the Lady Cats went on to hold off Alderson-Broaddus by nine.
Trimarco led all scorers with 21 points, including 4-6 from 3-point range, while Fratz had 18 points and six rebounds to lead the Lady Cats.  Grace Hyland (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped-in seven points and six rebounds, and Johnson finished with five points.  Pitt-Johnstown also got five rebounds from Carman.
Tidwell's 16 points and Peoples' 12 points and game-high 14 rebounds led the way for the Battlers, who fell to 6-16 overall and 4-14 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Cats continue a stretch of four straight WVIAC road games at Shepherd (WV) University on Wednesday, before returning home to celebrate Senior Day and wrap-up the 2011-12 regular season with a conference doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Seton Hill University on Saturday, Feb. 25 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Sports Center.
