Baseball Team Suffers Two More Losses at West Virginia State After losing a pair of games to open a four-game series at West Virginia State University on Saturday, Head Coach Todd Williams and the Mountain Cat baseball team looked to pick up a couple of wins to even the series on Sunday. Unfortunately for Pitt Johnstown, the Yellow Jackets showed why they are the top team in the North Atlantic Region by handing the Mountain Cats 12-6 and 13-3 losses.
Sophomore second baseman Dan Delsignore (Johnstown, Pa.) was 3-for-4 with two RBI and junior first baseman Casey Long (Johnstown, Pa.) belted a solo homerun to lead Pitt Johnstown in the opener. Sophomore catcher Paul Pentz (Johnstown, Pa.) added two hits in two at-bats.
In Sunday's second game, Long connected on his second homerun of the day and seventh of the season. This time it was a two-run shot. Sophomore outfielder Cody Gallaher (Sidman, Pa.) was also 2-for-4. With the losses, the Mountain Cats dropped to 22-16 on the season, while West Virginia State improved to 29-12.
