President's Staff Award for
Excellence in Service to Pitt-Johnstown

I am Mountain Cat Proud to recognize two members of our staff, Francine Cooper and Andy Csikos, for outstanding service.

Mrs. Cooper, administrative assistant in the Institutional Advancement and Alumni and Community Relations offices, received the President's Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community.  A member of the Pitt-Johnstown staff for five years, Mrs. Cooper was recognized for her involvement in numerous community projects including the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society's Light the Night event and the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days and Pink Ribbon Ball.  As an active volunteer in  "Pitt-Johnstown @ Your Service," Mrs. Cooper has participated in a breast cancer awareness/screening event in partnership with the Conemaugh Health System, visited nursing homes, and served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.  Through her selfless work in the community, Mrs. Cooper stands as a role model to others and epitomizes the spirit of this award.

Mr. Csikos, director of physical plant operations, received the President's Staff Award for Excellence in Service to Pitt-Johnstown.  A 40-year employee at Pitt-Johnstown, Mr. Csikos was recognized for his commitment to maximizing operating efficiency and reducing energy consumption across the campus.  Through an initiative that he launched, which included the installation of energy-efficient lighting and the replacement of traditional light switches with automatic lighting controls, he has reduced the carbon footprint of the campus by more than 890,000 pounds, which is the equivalent of planting 1,319 trees and removing 74 cars from our highways.  In the process, he reduced the campus' annual utility costs  by more than $45,000.  Mr. Csikos has been instrumental in the expansion of our campus and we have benefitted greatly by his exemplary service.

We are, indeed, fortunate to have dedicated individuals like Mrs. Cooper and Mr. Csikos as members of our campus community.  Please join me in congratulating them on their well-deserved honors.

Best,
Jem Spectar
