Teaching responsibilities include Preparation for Chemistry, General Chemistry lecture and lab, laboratory courses for health professions, and upper level courses in his/her area of expertise. The successful candidate will also prepare laboratories for execution, supervise student workers, participate in the development of new laboratory experiments for the above-mentioned courses. New faculty will be expected to contribute to departmental teaching requirements and responsibilities at all levels of our programs. The ability to develop a general education course for non-science majors is desirable. Other responsibilities include maintaining currency in Chemical Education or one’s area of expertise through appropriate professional development and participate in service to the Department and the University.
Masters in Chemistry or related field, Ph.D. preferred; all areas will be considered; demonstrated commitment to teaching and to research at a primarily undergraduate institution; excellence in oral and written communication; evidence of experience teaching courses in General Chemistry, Preparation for Chemistry and associated lab courses. Ability to teach General Chemistry and labs should be documented by at least one of the following: letter of reference, peer review of teaching, student evaluations or teaching awards.
