Tenure stream position at the rank of assistant professor in the Education Division beginning August 2012.
Responsibilities: Developing and teaching secondary and middle level English methods courses, in addition to teaching one or two English courses in the Humanities Division, and other education courses as needed; supervising field and clinical experiences; assist with coordinating the Secondary English Education program for PA teaching certification; advising undergraduate students; collaborating with stakeholders; engaging in continuous scholarship/professional development and university service activities; upholding the mission and goals of the Education Division.
Doctorate in English Education or a related field; a minimum of three years teaching experience at the middle or secondary level; and a background of instruction for students with special needs or second language acquisition (ESOL) is preferred. A strong commitment to developing partnerships with local schools and effective teaching and or supervision experience at the college level is highly desirable, including experience teaching English/literacy courses. Successful applicants will be individuals who are prepared to assist with program coordination and assessment for undergraduate teacher preparation. The candidate must also demonstrate the potential to engage in professional development, programmatic research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals. ABD applicants will be considered with expectation of doctoral degree completion by start of appointment.
