Six Others Place in Top-Four

     12/28/11... (Full Results) Travis McKillop (174 lbs.) (Lower Burrell, Pa.) and Jon Moore (197 lbs.) (Leechburg, Pa.) each placed second to lead a group of eight Mountain Cat wrestlers who finished in the top-four at Wednesday's 2011 Wilkes University Open.  In addition, heavyweight Josh Krupa (Bedford, Pa.) recorded four falls in 11:34 to lead the tournament on his way to finishing at 5-2.
     McKillop was 3-1 with two decisions and a fall, but suffered a 5-3 loss to the University of Pennsylvania's Canaan Bethea in the title bout at 174 lbs., while Moore posted a 1-1 record.  Moore advanced to the finals at 197 lbs. with a medical forfeit in the semifinals, before falling 6-5 to Princeton's Kurt Brendel.
     Head Coach Pat Pecora also got third-place finishes from Evan Link (125 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.), Ryan Link (133 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.), Logan Shirey (174 lbs.) (Fairmont City, Pa.), and Sean O'Connell (Farmington, CT), and fourth-place finishes from Jack Bachman (141 lbs.) (Greensburg, Pa.) and Nikos Garafola (184 lbs.) (Greensburg, Pa.).
     Despite not placing in the top-four, Krupa and Zach Lundgren (165 lbs.) (DuBois, Pa.) were both 5-2, and Chad Miller (165 lbs.) (Johnstown, Pa.) was 4-1.
    The Mountain Cats will host Super Region I rivals Kutztown University on January 6 and Mercyhurst College on January 11.  Both matches will start at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
