Nine Other Wrestlers Place in Top-Five

     11/12/11... (Complete Results) Ryan Link (133 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.), Zach Lundgren (165 lbs.) (DuBois, Pa.), and Travis McKillop (Lower Burrell, Pa.) all won individual titles, while nine other wrestlers placed in the top-five at Saturday's season-opening Washington & Jefferson Collegiate Open.
     Link, a 2011 All-American, was 4-0 and defeated Thiel College's Corey Brown, 9-7 in the championship bout at 133 lbs.  At 165 lbs, Lundgren recorded four decision victories, including a 9-3 win over West Liberty (WV) University's Jordan Nolan in the championship, while McKillop was 5-0 with a pair of falls.  McKillop earned a 13-2 major decision over Thiel's Jacob Lowry to claim the championship.
     Nikos Garafola (Greensburg, Pa.) was the runner-up at 184 lbs., and Evan Link (125 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.), Joel Paolo (Weirton, WV), Gary Lantz (174 lbs.) (Delta, Pa.), and Sean O'Connell (184 lbs.) (Farmington, CT) all placed third.
     In addition, Johnny Walylko (174 lbs.) (Boswell, Pa.) and Petros Georgilas (197 lbs.) (McKees Rocks, Pa.) finished fourth, and Zak Newton (197 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.) and 2011 All-American Jack Bachman (141 lbs.) (Greensburg, Pa.) placed fifth.
     The Mountain Cats open-up the 2011-12 dual meet schedule against West Liberty (WV) University on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Sports Center.
