     11/11/11... (Box Score) Urbana (OH) University erased a three-point halftime deficit with a 16-1 run to start the second half on its way to dealing Pitt-Johnstown an 82-69 road loss to open the 2011-12 season on Friday.  Kelsey Sleighter (Uniontown, Pa.) scored 13 points, and Kayla Loughner (Brinklow, MD) and Inaya Stephenson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each finished with 12 points to pace Pitt-Johnstown.
     The Lady Cats started fast.  Pitt-Johnstown scored the first seven points and ran out to a 10-2 lead four minutes into the game on Amber Smith's (Morgantown, WV) three-pointer.
     Urbana battled back to tie it at 21on Ciara Geiger's basket with 6:26 left in the first half, but Pitt-Johnstown answered with a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to rebuild the lead to 10 on Rachel Johnson's (Palmyra, Pa.) lay-up.
     The Lady Cats held onto the lead the rest of the first half and took a 36-33 lead into the halftime break.
     However, it was all Blue Knights in the second half.  Katy Barkley connected on a pair of free-throws at 14:18 to cap a 16-1 Urbana run to start the half and give the Blue Knights control of the game.
     Urbana built the lead to as many as 17 with 11:34 to play, before the Lady Cats pulled to within eight at 66-58 on Nicole Carman's (Cleveland, OH) three-pointer at the 5:43, but Pitt-Johnstown couldn't get any closer.
    
Sleighter led the Lady Cats with 13 points and four rebounds in her collegiate debut.  Stephenson had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Loughner collected 12 points and four rebounds.  Johnson and Carman each had seven points, while Johnson pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in the loss.
     The Lady Cats ended the night shooting 36.9% (24-65) from the field, but just 5-23 from behind the three-point line.  Pitt-Johnstown, which out-rebounded the Blue Knights 40-37, was also 16-24 from the free-throw line.  Urbana shot 49.2% (29-59) from the floor, 7-13 from three-point range, and 17-23 from the charity stripe.
     Andrea Vogel's game-high 25 points led Urbana.  Geigher had 17 points, and Jessica Saffold chipped-in 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for the Blue Knights.
     The Lady Cats will open the WVIAC schedule with a doubleheader with the Mountain Cats against Davis & Elkins (WV) College on Wednesday in the Sports Center.  The Lady Cats will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
