With Zach Lundgren dropping to 157 lbs., Gary stepped up and won the vacated starting job at 165 lbs. Lantz went 15-9 overall and 7-4 in dual meets. He came up just short of qualifying for the National Tournament by placing fifth at the Super Region I Tournament. Gary was also the runner-up at the Washington & Jefferson Collegiate Open.
