Katie McBroom averaged 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 16 games off the bench in 2010-11. She shot 8-26 from the field, 1-3 from three-point range and 6-12 from the charity stripe. McBroom also dished out 10 assists and made three steals.
McBroom appeared in 22 games and made six starts in her first season as a Lady Cat after transferring to Pitt-Johnstown from Mansfield University. McBroom averaged 1.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for the Lady Cats in 2009-10. She shot 31.8% (14-44) from the field and 40.0% (2-5) from three-point range. McBroom also knocked down 56.3% (9-16) of her free throws and gave out 17 assists last season.
Through two seasons with the Pitt-Johnstown program, McBroom has scored a career-high eight points at Bluefield State (WV) College on Feb. 5, 2011 and pulled in a career-best nine rebounds against Bluefield State (WV) College on Feb. 6, 2010.
Katie McBroom transferred to Pitt-Johnstown prior to the 2009-10 season after playing one season at NCAA Division II Mansfield University. McBroom played in 16 games at Mansfield and averaged 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in just over eight minutes per game.
At Derry Area High School
McBroom, a three-year letter winner in basketball and volleyball, averaged 10.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a senior. She finished her career with 826 points, 601 rebounds and 152 assists. McBroom earned WPIAL First-Team All-Section honors as a senior and was tabbed a WPIAL All-Star and an Indiana Optimist All-Star. As a volleyball player, McBroom was a WPIAL Second-Team choice as a senior and an Honorable Mention selection as both a sophomore and a junior. McBroom was also a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students and Athletes.
She was coached by Ralph McGinnis at Derry Area High School.
