Grace Hyland played in 22 games and averaged nearly 14 minutes per game as a freshman in 2010-11. Hyland averaged 2.7 points, one rebound and nearly one assist per game. Her 23 steals ranked fifth on the team. Hyland shot 22-59 (37.3%) from the floor, 10-31 (32.3%) from three-point range, and 5-9 (55.6%) from the charity stripe.
Hyland posted single-game highs of nine points vs. Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Feb. 7, 2011, and three rebounds against Lock Haven University on Dec. 30, 2010 and three rebounds against Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University on Feb. 7, 2011. She also dished out two assists five times.
Grace Hyland lettered four years, was a three-year starter and a two-year captain at Upper St. Clair High School. Hyland, an Almanac Second-Team All-Section selection as a junior, helped lead Upper St. Clair to a WPIAL AAAA Championship in 2008. She also helped take the squad to the PIAA Final Four in 2007. Hyland finished her career with 591 points and 211 rebounds. She also ranks fourth on the school’s all-time three-pointers made list.
In 2009-10 season, Hyland averaged 10.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 1.7 assists per game. She shot 32.5% from the field, 26.8% from three-point range and 75.6% from the free-throw line in her senior season.
Academically, Hyland graduated with high honors and was a member of the National Honor Society. Hyland received a Pitt-Johnstown Presidential Scholarship.
She was coached by Ernie Koontz at Upper St. Clair High School.
