Today, the Pitt-Johnstown campus community mourns the loss of Dr. John D. Wilson, professor emeritus of mathematics. Prior to beginning his career at Pitt-Johnstown as an instructor of mathematics in 1957, Dr. Wilson taught mathematics at the high school level. During his career at Pitt-Johnstown he had earned the rank of professor of natural sciences and mathematics and education prior to retiring in 1986.
A veteran of World War II, Dr. Wilson earned his BS, MLitt, and EdD from the University of Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife Dixie Ann, and children Matthew, Dr. Kevin, Melanie, and Seth. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the John Henderson Co. Funeral Home in Johnstown.
