
Volleyball Tied For 10th in WVIAC Preseason Poll
08/02/11...Head Coach Linda Renzi's (8th season) Lady Cat volleyball team was tied for 10th with Davis & Elkins (WV) College with 100 points in the 2011 WVIAC Preseason Coaches Poll when it was released on Tuesday. With 14 first-place votes Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University was nearly a unanimous choice to win the league crown in 2011... (Full WVIAC Release)
Wheeling Jesuit, which wrapped up an undefeated WVIAC season in 2010, picked up 14 of 15 first-place nods for 224 total points to take the top spot, while the University of Charleston (WV), which went 19-10 on the season a year ago, picked up 192 points for second place in the voting. The Golden Eagles grabbed the other first-place vote.
Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College is predicted to finish third after totaling 189 points. The Battlers went 11-3 in the WVIAC in 2010 and finished in a tie for third in the regular season.
Fairmont State (WV) University, 12-2 in WVIAC play in 2010, was picked fourth with 184 total points, and Shepherd (WV) University was chosen fifth amongst the league coaches in the preseason poll with 173 points.
