I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Elena Constantin, assistant professor of mathematics, is this year's recipient of the President's Award for Teaching Excellence.
Dr. Constantin, through her outstanding work in the classroom, epitomizes the purpose of this esteemed award. We are fortunate to have a person of her caliber and dedication as a member of our Pitt-Johnstown faculty. Her strong interactions with students and her mentoring of them through extracurricular activities clearly demonstrate her dedication and passion for teaching.
In being selected for the award, Dr. Constantin is recognized for the strong focus on her teaching preparation in order to ensure that her approaches and her materials are fresh and challenging. She is a caring, engaging professor who is not only actively involved in the campus community, but is a scholar-practitioner who contributes to her field through extensive research.
Dr. Constantin received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mathematics from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Romania), and her Master of Science and PhD in mathematics from Ohio University. She began her career at Pitt-Johnstown in 2005.
