Whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced professional looking for a career change, the Career Services Office will support your career endeavors by providing sound advice on finding a position or making a career change strategically. The services we provide are available to all degree-holding alumni free of charge.

Programs and Services for AlumniSimplicity – PJ Pathways

Online database for job and internship postings in a job search engine designed exclusively for Pitt-Johnstown students and alumni. This service should be available fall 2011.

Individual Career Assistance

Make an appointment with a career counselor to discuss a possible career change or to obtain valuable career advice. Call Career Services at 814-269-7120 to schedule an on-campus appointment.

Networking

·         Join the Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association and become a member of more than 19,500 alumni who are making a difference right here in our community and around the world. The Alumni Relations staff is eager to answer any questions that you have regarding Pitt-Johnstown, membership in the Alumni Association, or ways to get involved as an alum.

CAREER LIBRARY

The extensive Career Library is available to the public during normal office hours. It offers a wide variety of information on: general career goal planning; summer jobs; graduate, professional and undergraduate schools; resume writing; interviewing; specific career fields; and job opportunities. We also have books such as "Great Jobs for Biology Majors" and "Opportunities in Public Relations.” For a list of some of the books we offer click here.
 

COMPUTER LAB

The Career Services Office offers online computer access to assist in career exploration as well as instruction on the use of Simplicity, which is an online job search and recruiting system utilized by the Career Services Office at Pitt-Johnstown.  

GRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL SELECTION

The Career Services Office provides assistance when students are deciding whether or not to go to graduate/professional school. You can also view an online resource for graduate school and graduate program information. Or view information about colleges and universities and graduate schools at Petersons.com. 

RESUME REVIEW/DUPLICATION

Professional staff members will critique your resume and you are able to make duplicates through our office at no charge. View our booklet on
"How to Write a Resume.” 

INTERNSHIPS

Internships are a valuable part of the employment process. It will increase your experience and ultimately help you when it comes time to look for a full-time position. To learn more click here.  

JOB FAIRS

The Career Services Office provides access to several job fairs throughout the school year. This makes it possible to meet representatives from a large number of companies in one setting. Always take an ample supply of resumes and dress professionally. Check out our "Job Fair Tips"; and "How to make a Job Fair work for you". 

GRADUATE SCHOOL RESOURCES

Kaplan or Princeton Review will be visiting Pitt-Johnstown during the Spring Term to offer FREE practice exams for the GRE's, GMAT's, LSAT's and the MCAT's. Applications are available in the office or online for the following tests required for admission to professional schools:
GRE Graduate Record Exam
GMAT Graduate Management Admissions Test
LSAT Law School Admissions Test
MCAT Medical College Admissions Test

The RWCS Shadow Program is a one day observation experience where a student comes to your workplace and shadows you through your day at an agreed upon date and time. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the office.
