
Lady Cat Basketball Picked Ninth in WVIAC
11/05/10...Coming off of last season's 15-13 overall record, fourth-year Head Coach Sasha Palmer's Lady Cat basketball team has been picked to finish ninth our of 15 teams in the 2010-11 Preseason WVIAC Preseason Coaches Poll. Last season's WVIAC women's basketball race came down to the wire with as many as six teams holding an opportunity to claim the title entering the final week. League coaches are calling for more of the same in 2010-11 as six squads received first place votes in the annual preseason poll.
Glenville State (WV) College, Fairmont State (WV) University, and Shepherd (WV) University hold the fourth through sixth positions and each received at least one mention for first place. Concord (WV) University, Seton Hill University, Pitt-Johnstown, and Wheeling Jesuit (WV) University complete the top ten. The remainder of the poll consists of Davis & Elkins (WV) College, West Virginia State University, Alderson-Broaddus (WV) College, Ohio Valley (WV) University, and Bluefield State (WV) College.
Pitt-Johnstown (15-13, 12-10) should get big campaigns from seniors Sheena Aden (Sandy Lake, Pa.) (14.3 ppg) and Andrea Dalton (Washington, Pa.) (14.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg). Coach Palmer's Lady Cats also welcome back seven other letter winners.
The WVIAC women's basketball season gets underway November 12. The 32nd annual WVIAC Women's Basketball Tournament is set for February 28-March 5.
