RealWorld Career Services recognizes that career development is a lifelong, ongoing process that does not end when you graduate. As an alumnus, you are welcome to utilize the resources available. We are committed to assisting you and are here to support you through career transitions. We also invite you to explore the many ways you can assist us in providing resources to our students.

HOW THE CAREER CENTER CAN HELP YOU

CAREER ASSESSMENT AND ADVICE 

Many alumni contact the Career Center for resources and information regarding exploring their career options. The RealWorld Career Services provides the following services to PITT-Johnstown alumni at no cost:
·         Individual appointments with a staff member to discuss career options and concerns
·         Written and online resources for information about availability of jobs, salary statistics and industry trends
·         Information on graduate schools admission and application requirements
·         Access to the Pitt Alumni Network to conduct informational interviews with professionals in your field of interest.  

RESUME CRITIQUE
·         Resume critiques are available by appointment by calling 814-269-7123. 

JOB SEARCH RESOURCES 
All of the following resources are available to PITT-Johnstown Alumni at no cost:

·         Access to Symplicity, a web-based system allowing you to search for and view jobs and publish your resume to a Web Resume Book within the system to be viewable by participating employers. To register with Symplicity and create your alumni profile, click here (https://upj-csm.symplicity.com/students/). Your password is johnstownalumni.

·         On-campus interviews. Interview opportunities are available for alumni who have graduated in the immediate past semester. In some instances, alumni other than recent graduates may be eligible to participate in on-campus interviews if slots are available. These situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

·         Individual appointments for resume advice/critiques, discussion of job search strategies, or any related concerns.

·         The Career Resource Center. The resources contain information regarding resume and job search correspondence, salaries, employment trends, job/employer information, and much more.

·         Practice interviews. Appointments may be scheduled in order for you to sharpen your interview skills.

There are several ways that the RealWorld Career Services Office at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown can assist you in hiring students and graduates. We arrange for interview rooms, material displays, information sessions and job notice referrals. Our goal is to connect you with well-qualified students.   Here are a few other ways that we can help you: 

POST JOBS AND/OR INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

·         Contact the Human Resources department in your place of employment or business regarding recruiting at PITT-Johnstown. 

RECRUIT PITT-JOHNSTOWN

·         On-campus recruiting is a simple and highly effective way of finding interns and/or future employees. The first step involves contacting the RealWorld Career Services Office to set up a date that is convenient for you to visit our campus. Once a recruiting date is confirmed, we will inform students and alumni of your recruiting date and ask them to submit resumes. We will fax or email all resumes to you for review. Once you decide who you wish to interview, we will set up interviews based on your availability.  Please allow three weeks from the time you initially contact us until the first interview is scheduled. For your convenience here is a campus map. 

·         JOB FAIRS Job fairs provide you with a valuable occasion to showcase the opportunities that exist at your organization while interacting with potential hires.  Our office sponsors an annual job fair for graduating seniors during the first week of April.  Additionally, several departments sponsor discipline-specific job fairs for their students throughout the year.   To learn more about those opportunities, please contact our office, jcareers@pitt.edu. 

Pitt-Johnstown is also one of the participating schools in the WestPACS job fairs and the Pittsburgh Education Recruiting Consortium (PERC) job fairs.   

SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

·         No matter where you live, you can volunteer to conduct mock interviews, host a tour of your workspace, provide externship or shadowing opportunities, or serve as a panelist/presenter.
