I am Mountain Cat Proud to announce that Mr. Brian Houston, associate professor of civil engineering technology, has been named the 14th recipient of the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence.
We are extremely fortunate to have a person of Mr. Houston’s caliber and dedication as a member of our Pitt-Johnstown faculty. He encompasses all of the qualities required for this most esteemed award. The fact that he was nominated by a group of students who interact with him in the classroom and directly observe his teaching, and mentoring makes him a most worthy candidate for this award.
In being selected for the award, Mr. Houston was commended for his efforts to involve his students in real world projects and extracurricular activities, which have helped to prepare students for success in the real world. He is a caring, engaging professor who is deeply committed to teaching and is actively involved in our community.
Mr. Houston received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree from Oklahoma State University. He is also a registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Houston began his career at Pitt-Johnstown in 2003.
