Today the Pitt-Johnstown campus mourns the passing of Matthew A. Oberst. Matt received his degree in civil engineering technology (cum laude) from Pitt-Johnstown in 2008. He was a highly visible face for Pitt-Johnstown who was featured prominently in our “Get Ready for the Real World” marketing campaign.
Pitt-Johnstown President Jem Spectar offered, “We are deeply saddened to learn that we have lost one of our Pitt-Johnstown alumni family. Today, Matt is being remembered across campus as a fine student who had recently begun a very promising career in the engineering field. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, 921 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown. Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Johnstown.
