Lady Cats Fall, 89-69, On Road

     Sophomore forward Jessica Zapf (Pittsburgh, Pa.) poured in a career-high 27 points on 12-13 shooting from the field and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to lead the Lady Cats to a victory, as West Chester University handed Pitt Johnstown an 89-69 loss Friday night. Pitt Johnstown enters Monday's home game against Columbia Union (MD) College with a 9-3 overall record.
     The Lady Cats, who trailed 43-28 at halftime, also got 19 points, four rebounds and three assists from senior forward Melissa Patterson (Alexandria, Pa.) and 10 points, two rebounds and two assists from sophomore guard Allison Krischer (Johnstown, Pa.). Junior guard Jaclyn Schirf (Loretto, Pa.) added six points and four rebounds, while junior center Samantha Conner (Everett, Pa.) chipped in eight rebounds for Head Coach Jodi Gault's team.
     The Golden Rams held Pitt Johnstown to 43.5% (27-62) shooting from the field and 22.2% (4-18) shooting from three-point range. West Chester connected on 48.6% (35-72) of their shots from the field and 32.0% (8-25) from behind the three-point arc. The Lady Cats also committed 25 turnovers and converted on 11-20 from the free-throw line, while West Chester hit 11 of their 16 free-throw attempts.
     Kiesha Mack's game-high 32 points on 13-24 shooting (6-13 from three-point range) led four Golden Rams who scored in double figures. Dominique Lewis (17 points), Staci O'Byle (13 points) and Justine Pfaff (10 points) also scored in double figures, while O'Byle had 10 rebounds. With the victory, West Chester improved to 7-5 on the season.
