Volleyball Sweeps Chatham in Sports Center
10/28/09...Kristin Irwin (Bellefonte, Pa.) had 13 kills to lead the Lady Cat volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-20, 25-12 non-conference sweep over Chatham University, Wednesday night in the Sports Center. Pitt-Johnstown made it three straight wins and improved to 9-14 on the season.
Along with Irwin, Ashley Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) had nine kills, a block solo and a block assist, while Nicole Houser (Penn Run, Pa.) chipped in six kills and one block solo. Jessica Heidenthal (Clymer, Pa.) collected six kills, and Taylor Hrescak (Johnstown, Pa.) had five kills, five digs and a pair of service aces.
Taylor King (York, Pa.) (20 assists) and Kayla Petrilla (Johnstown, Pa.) (15 assists) combined for 35 set assists. Abby Gearhart (Elton, Pa.) led the Lady Cats with 10 digs, and Kelsey Kohler (Johnstown, Pa.) added seven digs in the victory.
With the loss, Chatham fell to 1-24.
The Lady Cats will host WVIAC matches against West Virginia State (WV) University on Friday at 6 p.m., before celebrating Senior Day against the University of Charleston (WV) on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Sports Center.
