Associate Professor, Elementary Education
Dr. Robert Zellers was one of the original faculty members who developed the teacher education program at UPJ in 1970. Previous to arriving on campus he was an elementary classroom teacher, principal and director of curriculum in various Pennsylvania public school systems. Over the past several decades he has taught undergraduate and graduate education courses as well as serving in various administrative roles. He developed and implemented the comprehensive field experience component that places our students in area schools for a first hand experiences with teachers and students. He has been active in various aspects of the local community and has served twelve years on a local school board. He has published numerous articles for various professional publications and was a successful developer and recipient of numerous grants which benefited local community groups and educators throughout the state. He received his B.A. from Waynesburg College (1966) and his M.Ed. (1968) and Ed.D. (1972) from the University of Pittsburgh. He presently teaches Trends and Issues in Elementary Education, Professional Development in Elementary Education and supervises student teachers.
