Associate Professor, Social Studies Education
Mark A. Previte is an Assistant Professor of Secondary Education at UPJ. He teaches courses in Elementary and Secondary social studies methods, University Scholarship, the History and Philosophy in American Education and is the university supervisor of secondary social studies student teachers. Previously, he was a secondary social studies teacher and department chair for 28 years at Northern Cambria High School, Northern Cambria, PA teaching courses in U. S. History, Sociology, Psychology, Contemporary Affairs and Problems of Democracy.
Dr. Previte is President of the Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies and a long time member of the National Council of the Social Studies. His teaching and research interests include issues centered education, democratic classrooms, the history of the American social studies movement and teacher supervision. His outside interests include basketball, golf, music (especially jazz ) and playing electric bass.
