Student teaching is the final phase in Pitt-Johnstown’s teacher certification program. Each student in our education division must complete a fourteen week internship; The Pennsylvania Department of Education mandates that seven weeks of the experience must be completed in the United States. Completing the remaining seven weeks of student teaching abroad offers Pitt-Johnstown students an invaluable opportunity to learn about another region, culture, and educational system.
In cooperation with JCL (NZ) Education, Ltd., Pitt-Johnstown education division is able to offer our students the opportunity to complete one half of their student teaching experience in Auckland, New Zealand! The New Zealand education program is known throughout the world, specifically for their elementary reading and math curricula. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to apply methods learned at Pitt-Johnstown to a “real world” teaching experience.
