Asst. Coach Drew Shubik

ATH09_213_ShubikDrew     The 2009-10 season will be the first for Drew Shubik under Head Coach Bob Rukavina.
     Shubik, a native of Stoystown, Pa. and graduate of North Star High School, comes to Pitt-Johnstown with plenty of playing and coaching experience.
     Shubik was a four-year starting guard at NCAA Division I Sacred Heart (CT) University, where he scored over 1,000 points, broke the school record for career steals and was named Second-Team All Northeast Conference in 2008.  Also in 2008, he earned the Sacred Heart Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award and the Sacred Heart Basketball Joe Griffiths Outstanding Player Award.
     Academically, Shubik was the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in both 2007 and 2008, and an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team selection.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 from Sacred Heart’s John Welch College of Business with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management.
     Following his college career, Shubik spent one year playing professionally in Bochum, Germany.
     Shubik has coached youth basketball camps and clinics throughout the eastern part of the United States and in Germany, where he was the head coach of the Bochum AstroStars Under 18 Boys team in Germany.
