The following opportunities are available for faculty, staff and students. Transportation will be provided to all off-campus locations.
Goodwill Visit: Memorial Medical Center/Good Samaritan Nursing Care Ctr
The Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat will make its rounds spreading good will (and special Pitt-Johnstown gifts) to children in the pediatric unit, and to families waiting in the Emergency Department at Conemaugh Hospital. Smiling volunteers are needed to escort the Mountain Cat on its rounds.

Goodwill Visit: Laurelwood Nursing Care Center
We’re spreading cheer to the residents of the Laurelwood Nursing Care Center by delivering fresh flowers to the residents during their “social hour”. Volunteers are needed to distribute flowers, lead residents in song, and help escort residents to the entertainment area.

Goodwill Visit: SeniorLIFE
We will be visiting with the guests at SeniorLIFE to engage them in a number of social activities ranging from card games to crafts. We’ll also be escorting the Mountain Cat on our visit.

Goodwill Visit: Arbutus Park Retirement Community
We’re spreading cheer to the residents of the Arbutus Park Retirement Community by delivering fresh flowers to the residents. Volunteers are needed to distribute flowers, visit with the residents, and spread good cheer.

Story Time: The Mountain Cat Who Mattered
We’re sharing the never-before-told story of how the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cat became our official mascot! Volunteers will read "The Mountain Cat Who Mattered" to pre-school and elementary school children, and will help the Mountain Cat mascot distribute special Pitt-Johnstown pencils and copies of the story to the children.

Salvation Army Soup Kitchen
We’re putting our culinary skills to the test when we prepare and serve the evening meal at the Salvation Army. We’re even going to do the dishes! Volunteers will work a five-hour shift preparing the meal, serving it, and cleaning up.

Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) Picnic
We’re serving a picnic dinner to veterans and military personnel with traumatic brain injuries who are currently at the Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center in Westmont. In addition to serving the picnic-style dinner, we will be expressing our appreciation to our injured troops.

The Learning Lamp/Boys and Girls Club Moxham Outreach Site
We’re reaching out to children in 1st through 8th grade at the Learning Lamp’s afterschool program. In addition to a story time (reading “The Mountain Cat Who Mattered”) for the younger children, we will be conducting educational games for the older children. This activity also coincides with the national Light's On After School program. It’s a great opportunity to mentor young boys and girls from the Greater Johnstown School District.

Breast Cancer Screening and Open House
As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we will be helping the folks at Conemaugh Health System's Richland Care Center with a special breast cancer screening. Volunteers will greet visitors, check them in, and distribute literature.

Humane Society Clean-Up
Even our four-legged friends are benefitting from “@ Your Service Week.” Volunteers will help the folks at the Humane Society of Cambria County do some clean-up projects and other small chores.

Popsicle Stick Build
Students, registering in teams of three or less, will compete to see who can build the best miniature home from Popsicle sticks. This activity, which takes places at schools across the country, incorporates the principles of Habitat for Humanity (“decent, affordable homes,” all of which have four walls and a roof) while creating awareness of the organization. This event is open only to students.
